1. Hands on workshop on Visual Deepfakes Detection

We are delighted to share the highlights of an exciting event organized by SoftDesk, where esteemed SoftDesk advisor Sir Ali Javed, who is also an eminent researcher and a renowned figure in the SED Department conducted a hands-on workshop on Deepfakes. Deepfakes are a revolutionary technology that combines artificial intelligence and image manipulation. They allow users to alter or superimpose one person's face onto another's in videos or images, creating incredibly realistic yet synthetic content. On June 5, 2023, students gathered with their laptops to delve into the fascinating world of Deepfakes under the guidance of Sir Ali Javed and his dedicated team. The event concluded with the distribution of participation certificates, a testament to the student’s active involvement and commitment. The certificates were presented by the esteemed chairman, recognizing the student’s valuable contributions and acknowledging their dedication to expanding their knowledge in this emerging field.

2. Roadmap to Become a Software Engineer

Softdesk, UET Taxila organized an informative seminar on "Roadmap to becoming a software engineer" by the distinguished speaker, Shahzaib Ahmed. The seminar aimed to guide students on how to become successful software engineers and provided them with valuable insights into various fields of software engineering. The speaker, Shahzaib Ahmed, who is an experienced software engineer, started the session by discussing the importance of having a clear goal and vision in life. He emphasized that students must have a passion for technology and programming to become a successful software engineers. Shahzaib Ahmed then discussed the different fields of software engineering and their respective roadmaps. He explained how students could specialize in different fields such as web development, mobile app development, software testing, and artificial intelligence. He also highlighted the importance of keeping oneself updated with the latest technology trends and tools in the field of software engineering. The seminar was highly interactive, and students actively participated in the discussion by asking relevant questions. The speaker was very knowledgeable and provided practical advice on how to excel in the field of software engineering. 3. Technomela

Softdesk, the tech society of UET Taxila, organized a two-session seminar named TechnoMela to help students learn the art of personal branding and gain insights into the future of tech in Pakistan. The seminar was divided into two parts, each covering a crucial aspect of tech and personal branding.The first session, Learn How to Create Your Personal Brand was delivered by the CEO and creator of Last Minute Tuition, Sumer Singh Rajpurohit. The session was aimed at students who wanted to showcase their value, skills, character strengths, and passion for work to the world. Sumersingh K Rajpurohit, a 26-year-old entrepreneur and YouTuber, shared his branding journey with the participants, highlighting the importance of personal branding in today's digital age. He gave practical tips on how to build a strong personal brand, emphasizing the significance of consistency, authenticity, and creativity. The second session, Tech in Pakistan: A Deep Dive into the Future, was led by Syed Husnain Tanweer Kazmi, a tech expert, and consultant. Kazmi guided the participants through the whole session, providing insights into the future of tech, particularly in Pakistan, and how to build a successful career in this field. He discussed the latest trends, technologies, and opportunities in the tech industry, sharing his vast experience and knowledge with the participants. Kazmi emphasized the need for continuous learning, adaptability, and collaboration to succeed in the dynamic world of tech. TechnoMela was a great success, with over 200 students attending the seminar. The event provided a unique opportunity for the participants to learn from industry experts and connect with like-minded individuals. Softdesk hopes to continue organizing such informative and engaging events in the future, enabling students to achieve their full potential and make a positive impact on the world of tech.

4. Ice Breaking 2K21

The Softdesk, UET Taxila organized an engaging and fun-filled event for the 20-session students of the software engineering department, called Ice Breaking. The event was aimed at breaking the ice between the students of 20 sessions and fostering a sense of community and collaboration among them. The event kicked off with a brief introduction of the organizers i.e (19-session) and the purpose of the event. The students were then divided into smaller groups to encourage interaction and engagement between them. The organizers had planned various team-building activities and games that required the students to work together and communicate effectively to complete the tasks. The first activity was to find similar traits or interests among team members it was the first step toward breaking the ice. The second activity was the highlight of the seminar as one member from each team was required to come forward and share their team's humorous side and similarities with the rest of the participants. Last was the guess the song challenge after that few students from both sessions sang a song and delighted everyone with their melodious voices. The students enthusiastically participated, eager to show off their knowledge. After the activities were completed, the students were provided with refreshments and a chance to network and get to know each other better. The organizers encouraged the students to exchange contact information and form study groups to facilitate learning and collaboration. The students very much enjoyed the event and expressed a satisfactory response to the event and the opportunity to interact and engage with their peers. The event successfully achieved its objective of breaking the ice between the students and fostering a sense of community and collaboration among them. The Softdesk of UET Taxila is committed to organizing more events like this in the future to help the students of the software engineering department to grow and learn together.

5. Ramadan Flood light Futsal Tournament 2019

The Ramzan Futsal Tournament 2019 was held during the holy month of Ramadan. The event was held with the aim of promoting physical activity and healthy competition among the students of the university. The tournament was open to all students, and teams from various departments participated in the event. The tournament was held in the evening, after the breaking of the fast, and the matches were played in the university's own football ground. The matches were officiated by trained referees, and the rules and regulations of futsal were strictly followed. The tournament was played in a round-robin format, with each team playing against all the other teams. The matches were highly competitive and were watched by a number of students who came to cheer their favorite teams. The matches were played with a high level of energy and enthusiasm, and the players displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the tournament. The matches were closely contested, with many of them being decided in the final moments. The winners were awarded a trophy and certificates of achievement, while the runners-up received certificates of appreciation. The tournament was a huge success, and it provided an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their sporting talent and build a sense of camaraderie and team spirit. The Softdesk Society plans to organize more such tournaments in the future, to promote physical activity and healthy competition among students and provide a platform for them to showcase their talent in various sports and games.

6. Techrex

Softdesk hosted an interdepartmental coding and design competition, called Techrex. The event was held in the CG Lab in the Software Department and was open to all students from various departments. The competition was divided into two parts: coding and design. The coding part of the competition included challenges like error finding, incomplete code, and algorithmic problem-solving, where participants were required to identify and fix errors in given code snippets, complete the given code, and solve algorithmic problems. The challenges were designed to test the participants' knowledge of programming languages and their ability to apply logic to solve problems. The design part of the competition included challenges like poster design, flyer and brochure design, and logo design. Participants were required to use their creativity and design skills to come up with visually appealing designs that effectively conveyed the given themes and messages. The competition was fiercely contested, with participants displaying excellent coding and design skills. The judges for the event were experienced software developers and designers who evaluated the participants' work based on their coding and design skills, creativity, and innovation. The winners were awarded certificates of achievement and prizes. The Softdesk Society plans to hold more such events in the future, to provide students with opportunities to showcase their coding and design skills, learn from industry experts, and gain valuable experience in their fields of interest.
